Amazing Facts About the Matterhorn
The Matterhorn is a mountain range made up of the Alps. It lies between Switzerland and Italy.The meaning of this mountain is “peak in the meadows” in German.
The height of the summit is 4478 meters which makes it the highest summit in the Europe and Alps.
On the 14the of July 1865, a group of climbers made the 1st ascent of this mountain range.
It is the 2the highest peak in Europe and the 10th highest mountain in Switzerland.
The four sides of the Matterhorn’s pyramid-like peak face the four cardinal directions.
Since 1865 more than 500 people have died in this place while conducting their journey toward the top.

The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that the largest snow igloo of the world was built at the base of this mountain in 2016. The size of this igloo is 42 feet and height 34 feet. There is also a famous Igloo village lies in the base of the mountain.
