Blue whales swallow up to 44 kg of plastic daily: Study – The Blue whale is one of the biggest animal in the world. Among the whale family, it considers the biggest among them and weighing up to 199 tonnes. The lifespan of this creature is up to 90 years. So as per its size, it needs enough food to fulfill its demand. Usually, they up to four tonnes of krill every day.
But one report shocks everyone. The report made by a group of scientists says that the Blue whale engulfs 44 kg of plastic per day. The humpback eats 19 kg and the Fin whale 38 kg of plastic every day. In total, they swallow 10 million microplastic pieces daily.
A group of scientists did research in the Pacific Ocean and took the vomited parts of blue whale , fin, and humpback whales. In that vomited food, they found the presence of microplastic pieces. This also increases the pollution level of the seawater and that directly damages the ecology.
HOw they are taking plastic- The unused plastics are thrown into the sea or ocean. While searching for food the aquatic animals take the plastics as they thought it as a food. So rise of plastic use is increasing day by day and that is directly destroying many lives.
