A Hunter becomes a wildlife conservationist
Jim Corbett National Park is situated in the Nainital district of Uttarpradesh. This place is known as a Tiger reserve area and famous for its tiger richness.
In the year of 1973, Project Tiger was launched for the first time and from then it’s become the home of the most endangered species, that is the tiger.
Do you know why this is called Corbett ?
This tiger reserve is named after a very famous tiger hunter. Yes..And his name is James Corbett.

James Corbett was born on 25 July 1875, in the nainital district of Uttarakhanda. He was a well-known hunter and killed 19 tigers and 14 leopards. He works as a Colonel in the British-Indian army and loves to kill wild animals.

Then he changed his mind and became a nature conservationist and started his mission to save and protect wildlife. In India, he started campaigns and created awareness among people to protect nature and wildlife.
This park is named after Jim to respect his work for the conservation of wildlife.
