Mayurbhanj district in Odisha has several tourist attractions points. Tourists across India came here to explore the beauty of nature. Shimlipal National Park is one of the famous tourist attractions points of Mayurbhanj. It is a natural environment filled with a large variety of fauna and flora.

Since the ancient period, there were a lot of ‘Simul’ (Silk Cotton) trees, so the name ‘Shimilipal’ has been renamed after this tree.

There are Kalarapatriya tigers, forest cats, wolves, elephants, sambar, deer, birds, reptiles and so many others. Some major rivers are The Budhabalanga, Salandi, and Khairi rivers also flow out here. The spectacular view of Jordan waterfalls and the Barehipani here is one of the best things to enjoy. The unique beauty of nature and the sound of the waterfall creates a peaceful atmosphere here.

The sanctuary’s gates are closed for tourists six months a year. It has been closed since June 15 each year, reopening in mid-November.

How to get there- You can get to Shamilipal by bus from Yashipur, Lulung, Pithabata. Otherwise, you can even take your car. The nearest railway stations are Baripada and Baleshwar stations.
