Top 10 Unique Animals of Brazil – Brazil has rich wildlife and is the home of many rare species found on the Earth. As per some reports, Brazil has 60% of the total Amazon Rain Forest region, which means it is the home of many fauna and flora. There are more than 55000 plants, over 650 mammals, 3000 freshwater fish, and nearly 2000 bird species that can be found in the forest region of Brazil.

 1.Crab-Eating Fox

The crab-eating fox or the forest fox is found in Brazil. The mass and the length of the Crab-eating fox are as follows 5.7 kg and 60-70 cm (Adult). They are the nocturnal animal and can be seen in the day time. The size/range of their territory is 09-1 square kilometer. When a group of fox stands together they make various type of sounds. It may be a method of contacting each other and finding their prey.

Bush dog is a very rare and can be seen in the Brazilian forest region. It was identified by Peter Wilhelm Lund. He found the fossils of this rare species in the Caves of Brazil. As per IUCN, it comes under – the near Threatened list. As their population is gradually decreasing.

The tapir is one of the unique animals found in Brazil and is also known as the Brazilian Tapir. It looks similar to pigs. As per IUCN, they are now vulnerable due to the decrease in their population. In the Amazon Rain Forest region Tapir used to live as that place suits them very much.

This rare species of monkey can be found in the Atlantic coastal forest region of Brazil. Mostly found in a height range between 1800-2000 meters from the sea level. Their diet is mainly based on fruits. In total 80-90% of their diet is fruit and frugivorous.

The Red Handed Howling Monkey is a native animal of Brazil. Their body is covered with black furs and their hand is red. That is why it is called Red Handed Howling Monkey. Mostly it is found in the Atlantic Forest region. It is vulnerable as its population is gradually decreasing. Due to climate change, they are losing their habitat.

The Yellow banded drat flag (Dendrobates leucomelas) belongs to the family Dendrobatidae. The shining yellow spot on its black colored body makes it look cool. But do not try to touch it because it is one of the most poisonous frog specie in the world.

7.Hoary Fox

The Hoary fox is another unique animal of Brazil. It is also known as Raposinha-do-campo in Brazil. Insects are the main source of their diet. The conservation status of Hoary Fox is less of a concern.

Armadillos are seen in Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina. The swampy region of Forest is the best suitable for Armadillo. Small insects and warms are their best diet. But their life is not secure enough.

9.Ocelot

The Brazilians Ocelot looks similar to a cat and is almost twice the size of a common cat. It can reach 40-50 cm in its lifespan. They are mostly found in the rainforest region of Paraguay, Northern Argentina. They are nocturnal and mostly seen at night time. During that period they usually searches their food. Love to eat insects as their diet.

Pampas Deer are found in the Southern region of America – Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia. They can be seen deep inside the forest, hills, and water bodies. Due to the destruction of their habitat, their population is rapidly decreasing and considered Endangered.
