What is an Ecosystem and its importance?
Definition of Ecosystem- An ecosystem is a specified geographical area where a living organism, as well as a non-living organism, interacts with each other to form a system of life. It contains both the biotic components and abiotic components. All these components are interlinked with each other through a cycle of nutrition.
Biotic factors – Mainly consist of living organisms. Example – plants, animals, and another living organisms
Abiotic factors – Mainly consist of the physical environment . Example – humidity, rocks, temperature
Like a food chain , the flow of energy also took place in an Ecosystem. It starts from the plants and returns back to the environment through decomposition. Plants produces energy through the process of photosynthesis and then energy enters into other communities by the herbivorous.
Types of Eco-System- The Eco-System can be classified into various types. We classified them as per the geographical area. Like Forest Eco-Systems, Desert Eco-Systems, Grassland Eco-Systems, and Marine Eco-Systems.
Importance of an Eco-System – The eco-System plays a significant role in energy transmission through the Thermodynamics process. This energy is transmitted from plants to other living bodies. Plants produce energy through photosynthesis. It helps to maintain and control the natural balancing of an area naturally.
